Taking part in international activities is interesting in itself, but can be even more so when students can be awarded an internationally acknowledged certificate, like Cambridge, Goethe, Delf Scolaire or Dele. Passing exams for these certificates students prove to have a very good knowledge in languages (English,German, French or Spanish) and European and International Orientation. These certificates are valuable during the transition to higher education in The Netherlands or even in the rest of Europe.
Reasons to participate in the InterLanguages-project are that gifted and ambitious graduates get an incentive to achieve above average results in the domains of language and cultural learning. In some cases already, the certificates offers a negotiation option of exemption from language examinations which are required for international university access. In addition, students can give evidence of additional internationally important competences with the Excellence label of plurilingual, European and international competences.
To be awarded the certificates students must have written and oral command of at least one language other than their native/ first language on level B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages and use one of the foreign languages as the working language. Next to that, students are expected to take part in cross-border projects and exchange programmes, accentuate in their school curricula themes and contents which are of special importance as they prepare for international courses of studies and for future orientation in their profession and further training on an international level. A portfolio will be compiled of these learning activities. European knowledge and insight will be tested at competence level 4 (Havo), 5 (Vwo) of the ELOS Common Framework for Europe Competence.
RSG Tromp Meesters provides extra lessons for the languages: English, French and German (one hour per week) and EIO. Of course, to really become fluent in your languages of choice, many hours of extra input are needed.
In the 6th form (vwo) or the 5th form (havo) students enrol for the language exams at the various institutions: Cambridge http://www.cambridgeesol.org/exams/ Delf Scolaire http://www.ciep.fr/delf-scolaire/presentation-delf-scolaire.php Goethe Institut http://www.goethe.de/ins/nl/ams/lrn/prf/gb2/deindex.htm
Because of a long-standing international cooperation with European schools, RSG Tromp Meesters is willing and able to support the mobility and integration of students in foreign countries.
